[The Christmas Globe](http://magenta.monsters.wigglypets.co.uk/?p=85) this is another one of my Flash Fictions – for those who don’t know flash fiction is under 1000 words. I like this story as I think it has some good imagery in it.

Well the first week is over and the second week has begun and how far am I into writing?
I haven’t actually started writing anything yet :/ but I have got the basic concept – it involves computes but I think is very dark in a Po type of way – or can be depending on how I write it!
I need to do a little bit of research before I start writing but we shall see how it goes.
I may put a piece of the story up once it is written to get feed back on – though it may well start off not scary!

[Deamons](http://magenta.monsters.wigglypets.co.uk/?p=33) this is another flash fiction which has since been published in the BOFF anthology. It is based on a story concept I came up with at 13 which one day I hope will result in a novel probably for GothNoWriMo.

I love horror movies and films – but alot of what I like would not really be gothic as such. I don’t actually tend to go for blood and guts – at least not as the main focus of the piece of fiction.
Of course I love authors like Stephen King and Ann Rice, James Herbert and Clive Baker. Then there is Dean Kootz and many sundry others. The Third Alternative magazine and random anime covers dark very well.
I probably don’t tend to write your standard dark pieces but occasionally I have nightmares and these translate and some pretty twisted stories.
Imagery wise I do collect postcards and books from various art collections to use for writing later – Aztecs are a good source as in alot of history.

I’m never entirely sure what counts as gothic but I do have a think for old horror movies with vampires and castles and Po’s works are always haunting. I pick up ideas from these pieces of fiction along with things like my visit to Bruge with its ginger bread architecture and churches decorated down to the last cm!
I have a story idea worked out for this sleepy little tourist trap which includes it’s saviours blood and little old lady lace makers, but that is a tail for another time!
I am also married to Alaric King of the Goths and this is where I really become confused – Goths where a group of people seen as barbarians to the Romans but who had their version of care in the community and the like. As far as I can tell there were the original goths who were sort of like French/German Celts from our modern day point of view, then there was the classic gothic period with lots of large stone buildings and the neo-gothic movement which was the same sort of stuff but a bit fancier later on. Though I may have got this all entirely wrong!
Later still where the romantic poets and their writing circles who spawned what we think of as gothic litrature – Dracular, Frankenstien etc… And after that came the pale teenagers in velvet and stripy socks who I may once have been associated with though less than a generation on that was being called emo :/
Then we get into Nu-Goths and Cyber-Goths and six million other types of Goth.

Due to finishing off a novel/previous work in progress I am only going to aim for the 20, 000 word goal for this month. This may or may not be the whole story as I am still working out the story line 😉
I will be aiming for my standard 1000 words a day though this will probably only take off once I have finished the other novel!
Shout outs and word goal challenges will be posted to twitter via [TheMonsterBlogs](http://twitter.com/TheMonsterBlogs).

Hello! And welcome – I am Black Monster and a special type of story telling monster. I am a Nanowrimarian Gurgitation Monster who specialises in all things gothic, dark and horrific. And I have learnt that there is a writing challenge specifically designed for me [GothNoWriMo](http://gothnowrimo.proboards.com/index.cgi). Like NaNoWriMo the idea is to write a novel only this one is based in the month of October so that your new horror story will be ready for All Hallows!
Word count ranges from 20-70 thousand words and you get to pick which write goal you aim for.
Reports and word goals will be posted on TheMonsterBLogs twitter account and I hope you will join me for this hell of writing – mwhahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAA.
Oh and p.s the writing on this blog will be raw as in unedited and as spelling and the like is something that for me at least comes during the polishing later moments there will be mistakes – you will have to stomach them or throw up.
